Day 13 After Adult Circumcision: A Medical Reality Check!

ACR DoItLikeDan Day 13

Hey everyone,

Day 13 is here post adult circumcision and nearly two weeks post‑surgery. What a rollercoaster it’s been. From an early start to a farewell coffee shop mission, a GP visit that confirmed my suspicions, and a record‑breaking step count, today had it all. Let me take you through it.

Early Bird Success

5 AM Wake‑Up (But in a Good Way!) This morning I woke up at 5 AM and, surprisingly, it felt great. After so many frustrating middle‑of‑the‑night wake‑ups, this one felt refreshing. My body just seemed to be having a better day, and I felt ready to take on more than usual.

The Great Coffee Shop Mission

Determination Meets Reality

I’d planned a gentle park walk, but then I found out my favourite city‑centre coffee shop is closing this Friday. No way was I missing a proper goodbye. So, mission accepted: I walked all the way into town.

By 9 AM, I’d already clocked 3,888 steps. For context, not long ago even 744 feet felt like a victory. Progress is real, even if it doesn’t always feel like it day to day.

Medical Checkpoint

GP Visit and Honest Conversations

I’d had a nagging feeling that healing wasn’t going quite right. The practice nurse confirmed it: a slight infection had developed.

Part of me was frustrated, but mostly I felt reassured. Trusting my instincts and getting checked was the right call.

Treatment Plan

Back on Antibiotics

I’ve been prescribed antibiotics and have a follow‑up scheduled for Friday. It’s a reminder that recovery isn’t always linear and that listening to your body matters.

The Swelling Situation

Swelling is still present, which is expected for another week or two. But with the infection and other recovery hiccups, it’s hard to tell what’s “normal” and what’s not. At least now I know the infection explains some of it.

The Hair Situation Nobody Talks About

Because I was shaved before surgery, the regrowth is now at that awkward, scratchy stage. It’s a small thing, but when you’re already sensitive, it adds up.

City Centre Success

The walk home was slow and steady. Normally, I’d keep pace with others, but right now I’m learning to accept my own rhythm. I picked up food and my prescription on the way, so the trip was productive as well as symbolic.

Post‑Adventure Care

Back home, I showered, cleaned the area with sensitive wipes, and carefully patted dry. Hygiene takes longer these days, but it’s essential for proper healing.

The Final Tally

10,270 Steps – Personal Best! That’s the most I’ve walked since surgery. I’m proud of the milestone, though slightly nervous about how my legs will feel tomorrow.

Reality Check

As much as I’m celebrating, I know tomorrow needs to be a rest day. Recovery is about balance: pushing forward without overdoing it.

Day 13 Insights

Wins:

  • Early morning energy boost
  • Mission accomplished: farewell coffee shop
  • Medical confirmation of infection
  • Personal best step count
  • Managed a complex trip with multiple stops

Reality Checks:

  • Infection confirmed, antibiotics needed
  • Ongoing swelling
  • Hair regrowth irritation
  • Slower walking pace than normal
  • Importance of balancing effort with rest

Key Takeaways:

  • Trust your instincts – get checked if something feels off
  • Infections happen and are treatable
  • Adjust goals when circumstances change
  • Save “epic” days for special occasions
  • Even small annoyances (like hair regrowth) matter in recovery

Looking Ahead

Friday’s follow-up should show whether the antibiotics are effective. Until then, I’ll be taking it easier and letting my legs recover.

That coffee shop mission felt like reclaiming a piece of normal life, even if it was slower than usual.

Thanks for following along with the ups, downs, and unexpected wins of this journey so far.

Stay strong, Dan

P.S. – 10,270 steps may be my recovery personal best, but tomorrow is definitely a Netflix‑and‑rest day. Sometimes you’ve got to earn your lazy days!
