Right then, everyone! Dan here with a proper catch-up covering four eventful days of my adult circumcision recovery. Fair warning: this update includes medication drama, AI consultations, and a no-show consultant. Buckle up!
Day 9: When Your Leg Becomes the Main Character (Friday 19th September)
The Midnight Wake-Up Call
So, here’s something new – I actually fell asleep easily at 9 pm, following my normal schedule. But midnight rolled around and I was wide awake, and for once it wasn’t because of those pesky night erections! No, this time it was my bloody leg pain dragging me out of dreamland. Had to hobble to get painkillers to get back to sleep.
Pharmacy Adventures with an Umbrella Crutch

This morning brought the glamorous task of limping to the pharmacy for my Co-Codamol prescription. Plot twist: my large umbrella became an impromptu walking stick! You know you’re living your best life when outdoor accessories become medical equipment.
The Good News Down Below
Everything circumcision-wise is actually ticking along nicely. The swelling’s gone down loads, and there haven’t been any other issues with the healing. This is about the time when stitches start dissolving and falling off naturally, so that’s something to keep an eye on.
Wardrobe Evolution: Pajama Bottoms Tonight
I’ve decided tonight I’m ditching my trusty OnThatAss snug boxer shorts for pajama bottoms. More airflow, you know? Sometimes you’ve got to let things breathe during recovery.
Day 10: The Co-Codamol Catastrophe (Saturday 20th September)
Zombie Mode: Activated 🧟♂️
Where do I even start with Saturday? I woke up early after sleeping on and off most of Friday due to the pain meds. I’d turned into a proper zombie – though thankfully without the appetite for brains… or anything else for that matter!
Rainy Day Shopping Expedition
The tip of my penis and the circumcision line were noticeably less sensitive today, which was brilliant. Still couldn’t put full weight on both feet, but the leg pain had reduced significantly. During absolutely pouring rain, I waddled like an injured penguin to the shop for essentials: machine Costa (eww, don’t like it and had to get full caffeine as no decaf), flavoured water, protein shake, and protein bar.
The Medication Mistake That Nearly Killed Me

Before leaving the house, I took 2 Co-Codamol tablets. They’d well and truly kicked in by the time I got back – I felt weird and zombified again. An hour passed, managed breakfast (which was difficult), but I felt even stranger than the day before. Two and a bit hours later, and that was it… I had to get outside immediately because I wouldn’t make it to the bathroom. Yes, I threw up by the grid! 🤮
Spent the majority of the day in bed feeling sorry for myself. Who would’ve thought my adult circumcision recovery blog posts would turn into a wider healing and health disaster diary!
The AI Doctor Consultation (Should I Have or Shouldn’t I Have?)
Getting a Second Opinion from Grok AI
Whilst bed-bound, I did something I’d normally never do – I talked to Grok AI in doctor mode, using the camera so he could see me. I asked how my healing looked on day 10 and showed him my penis. Other than making a funny joke about my recovery, here’s what he said:
“All gravy in the navy – love that. Day ten, you’re basically out of the danger zone. Swelling’s gone down, stitches softening, no ooze or pong? That’s what winners look like. If you get the odd throb from a random erection, just roll over and pretend it’s not there. In a week, you’ll be tugging gently – well, not tugging, more like… admiring. You’re doing great. Want a quick tip for the blog: say by week two, your knob looks less like an angry sausage and more like a happy sausage.”
That made me laugh out loud! The conversation was genuinely reassuring that everything looked exactly as it should at this stage. I normally would never show my manhood to anyone, and now I’m wondering if Grok records live images! But it was good to get verification (although AI isn’t always 100% accurate) that things are progressing normally.
Day 11: Progress and ADHD Medication Revelation (Sunday 21st September)
3:45am Erection Update
Woke up at 3:45am due to one of those dreaded morning erections, though the tugging on stitches didn’t feel as intense as previous days. Could be because the stitches are slowly absorbing? This was my second night in pajama bottoms too. Had to remind myself not to tense up in that area – didn’t want to “twitch it” (is that even a word?!).
Visual Progress Report
It’s looking loads better down there! The head of the penis is now more prominent than the surrounding skin. On day one it looked like a huge thick sausage, but now that most of the swelling’s gone down, you can see the tip much more clearly. This takes some getting used to – it’s been many years since I’ve seen the whole head of my penis!
The sensitivity is slowly subsiding, which means I can walk more normally than in those first few days post-op.
Leg Recovery Good News
This morning I was able to put my leg down next to the other and actually stand up properly! During the day I managed trips to the local petrol station and walked to the bottom of the street. Slow and steady wins the race, after all!
The Caffeine Catastrophe Revelation
Here’s where I’ve been a complete muppet: I take ADHD medication, and I’m not allowed caffeine whilst on it. The last few days since surgery, I’d been having 1-3 cans of Coke Zero or Diet Coke daily – totally forgetting they both contain caffeine! The caffeine increases my ADHD medication effects, which can cause nasty side effects. No wonder I was so sick yesterday after the pain medication! Lesson learned – I’m stopping this habit immediately.
Future Walking Plans
I’m looking forward to putting this recovery behind me in a few weeks. By midweek, I plan to walk to the park around the corner (0.1 mile away, roughly 739ft from the house). The plan is to use the park benches for rest, but not overdo things with a full park walk yet.
Positive Signs
No light yellow discharge or blood in my pajamas either. Though little droplets of blood could be expected when stitches fall out naturally.
Day 12: Consultant No-Show and Slight Concerns (Monday 22nd September)
Later Wake-Up Call
Woke up around 5am, which is later than normal! Though still woke up to the same thing I’ve experienced most days – those bloody erections!
Concerning Changes
Around the incision site, things appeared more swollen than yesterday and the appearance had slightly changed. Not sure if there’s any odour developing. I had my post-op consultation scheduled for this evening, so definitely something to mention.
Step Count Success
Enjoyed walks to the coffee shop and corner shop today, totalling 3k steps! Numbers are definitely on the up, which is encouraging.
The Blood Spot Worry
When I got home, I noticed a spot of blood in my shorts and some around the incision site. Because I tend to overthink and catastrophise everything, I started worrying something might not be going well. Hopefully it was just a stitch coming away naturally or friction. As a precaution, I switched to loose-fitting shorts.
The Consultant Disappointment
Had my post-op telephone appointment scheduled for the evening. Time for lunch, then a shower before the call. We’d see what the consultant said later… except the consultant didn’t call. He might have been really busy, great. I decided to call it a night.
Reflections on Days 9-12
What I’ve Learned
These four days have taught me that recovery isn’t just about the surgery site. Medication interactions, existing health conditions (hello, ADHD), and even unrelated injuries all play a part in your healing journey.
The Medication Wake-Up Call
The biggest revelation was realising how my ADHD medication and caffeine habit were making my recovery unnecessarily complicated. Sometimes the things that seem harmless can have knock-on effects you’d never expect.
Progress Despite Setbacks
Despite the leg drama, medication mishaps, and consultant no-show, the actual circumcision healing is progressing beautifully – I hope. The swelling’s down, sensitivity’s improving, and I’m getting back to more normal movement patterns.
P.S. – If you’re on any regular medications and planning circumcision surgery, definitely double-check what you can and can’t have during recovery. I learned this the hard way with my caffeine habit! Also, maybe don’t show your healing penis to AI chatbots – though admittedly, Grok’s assessment was spot-on and quite entertaining!
Thanks for following along with this rollercoaster week. Sometimes recovery involves more plot twists than expected, but we’re getting there!
If you’re considering adult circumcision, don’t let my extra complications put you off – most of this drama was self-inflicted through medication mixing and general bad luck!
Until tomorrow’s update!
